This October, The Battle of the Wines returned to France for a historic second edition, held this year in Chinon. Inspired by the original event created by King Philippe Auguste in 1224, the competition remained true to its roots, with judging based solely on taste.
Eight centuries ago, 70 European wines were sampled in the first edition. This year’s event delivered an even more extensive and exciting lineup, featuring over 500 top wines from around the world.
In the spirit of the original competition, wines are judged 100% blind by a panel of international experts. The judges know nothing about the wine’s origin, maker, cost, or age—ensuring a completely impartial evaluation.
Looking ahead, our bi-annual global finals will bring together the best from local, regional, and national competitions.
